CBSE Accountancy: Part 1

a)  Books to refer to

The most prevalent books for CBSE Accountancy are the ones by TS Grewal, which is certainly recommended. Usually, around this time, students are looking for new books to refer to for questions and content, say DK Goel.

A suggestion would be that hunting for new books is not mandatory/required, and thus, there is no need to worry if a few other students have started referring to new books and you haven’t, and/or are planning not to. In no way does this (alone by itself) mean that you are lagging behind.

Kindly do not use Calculators, even while practising!

b)  Vast Course Content and Mocks

Clearly, with 3 parts within the syllabus, each one of them being a store of a plethora of concepts, questions and categories of questions, the Accountancy syllabus is pretty spread out, making it a good task to revise all the concepts, which is essential.

To revise before the exams, have a look at the different types of questions, and start/continue attempting practice papers, preferably past year CBSE Papers (Delhi as well as Outside Delhi).

Attempting the papers will help you brush through the concepts, boost your confidence, give you a rough idea about where you stand, and also, shall help you in understanding the nuances left by you while revising quickly.

This is the time (through mock papers) to look into the minute details and intricacies which you might have left out earlier.

Considering the huge variety of concepts, types of questions, tricks and minor nuances in questions, Accountancy must be subject at the top priority amongst other (Commerce Subjects) as far as mock papers are concerned.

A book I would strongly recommend is An Aid to Accountancy, by TS Grewal for revision purposes. It covers not only good theory and other 1 markers, but various sorts and types of questions which can be asked from different topics and with different mark schemes. Apart from this book and past year papers, more papers can be practised from other sources like CBSE Sample Papers, papers of other good schools etc.
