ISC Chemistry- Paper Pattern

Maximum Marks: 70

Duration: 15 minutes reading time and 3 hours writing time

Types of questions:

· There will be 18 questions in all with sub-parts and internal choices between sub-parts of some questions.

· Question 1 has 4 sub-parts and carries 20 marks. It mainly contains objective questions.

a) Fill in the blanks

b) Multiple choice questions

c) Match the following

d) Short answer questions

· Questions 2 to 8 are of 2 marks each with internal choices in any two of these questions. They are mainly short answer questions or numericals.

· Questions 9 to 15 carry 3 marks each, with any two questions having an internal choice. This segment mainly has reasoning questions and writing reactions.

· Question numbers 16 to 18 carry 5 marks each, with an internal choice. They encompass all sorts of questions-reasoning, reactions, numericals, structures,etc.

Points to note:

1. Use of scientific calculators is permitted.

2. Board papers before 2018 may be solved but keep in mind, the change in paper pattern from 2018 onward as earlier there used to be external choices in questions and syllabus was different. Now, there are only internal choices and chemical and ionic equilibria is not in syllabus.
